Hamdan was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of FireFly Sdn Bhd in January 2023. Prior to this, he was the Director of Flight Operations for Malaysia Airlines Berhad since September 2015. Hamdan is a highly experienced aviation professional with over 30 years of industry expertise. He started his career as a pilot for Malaysia Airlines in 1992 and brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry. He has since undertaken various management portfolios including as a Flight Instructor and Examiner, Technical Manager and Fleet Manager in the Flight Operations department. During his tenure as the Director of Flight Operations, Hamdan played an instrumental role in the strategic decision-making process and ensuring the efficiency and safety of flight operations. He also played an instrumental role in the launching of key flight operations including the initial flight that brought COVID-19 vaccines into Malaysia and the repatriation of Malaysian students from Egypt during a crisis.
