Malaysia Aviation Group Signs SPA for MASwings Ownership Transfer to Sarawak Government

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of MASwings, today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with the Sarawak Government, formalising the transfer of MASwings’ ownership.

Kuching, 12 February 2025 – Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of MASwings, today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with the Sarawak Government, formalising the transfer of MASwings’ ownership. This follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Sarawak Government and Hornbill Skyways on 27 October 2023. The transfer is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with MAG working closely with all stakeholders, including shareholder Khazanah Nasional Berhad, to ensure a seamless transition and compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. Throughout this transition period, MASwings will continue operating as usual under the purview of MAG, with no disruptions to flight schedules, ensuring uninterrupted air services for the communities that rely on them. MAG remains committed to a smooth handover and to support the long-term growth of Malaysia’s aviation and tourism sectors for the benefit of the rakyat. Beyond this transition, MAG will continue strengthening the nation’s aviation landscape through its airline subsidiaries Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and Amal, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a key player in regional and global connectivity.
